this is the story of our camping trip//part 2

Did you miss part one of our camping trip?
Or, do you just need a recap because it's taken me forever to post part two?
You can read it here!

We woke up to what would be our last camping day.
The chipmunks scurried about
while the wind rushed through the trees
making a sound like that of the rushing waves of the sea.
Breakfast was leftovers as we sat by our last fire.
The logs, damp from the night before,
were unable to burn without giving off lots of smoke,
which left our clothes smelling even more
like the rustic scent of the campfire than before.

After breakfast,
we got ready to head to the nearby lake
where we would spend the day.
We took down our campsite
and loaded the truck with all of our belongings.
Then, we drove down to the lake
where we found a lovely little picnic table surrounded by trees.
We designated it our spot for the day,
and set down our backpacks and towels
 before heading to the water.

The water was warmer at this lake
than the one we went to the previous day. But still pretty cold.
The wind wasn't helping our determination to get in the water,
and while Uncle Julien got in just as fast as before,
Sage and I took forever once again.

We kept telling each other that we'd get in,
but we aren't super good at motivating each other. ;)
Let's just say we went through many hilarious
attempts trying to get into the water.
After laughing a lot and shivering like crazy,
we actually got in!
Sage was first( yay Sooge!). I'm glad that we swam,
though it didn't last long because the water was
oh, so cold.
Next time, I think Sage and I are both determined
to be braver and to get in faster.
After lunch, we spent the rest of the day relaxing by the lake
and soaking in the scenery, before heading home
later in the afternoon.
 It was a lovely day.

The two days my aunt, uncle, cousin, and I
camped together, were so much fun.

Thank you, Auntie & Uncle for planning
such a memorable trip.

I'm so thankful for the magnificent scenery
that our great God has made for us to enjoy.
It displays His kindness towards us
and His glory.

I also have Him to thank for providing us
with such a wonderful weekend.

Blessings, friends!

  4. Madi,
Next time we'll all jump in at the same time! We'll be craving cold water anyway, after a big spring hike.
We had fun with you & Sage, and will always remember the laughter we had around the campfire that still makes me smile today.
The quality of your pictures & your blog are impressive & always a joy to explore.
    Love you,
    Auntie Jen & Uncle Julien
