driving in the country

Three days a week, I go out with my mom for an hour or so early in the morning to practice driving.  Some mornings, we'll stay in our neighborhood, driving in the busy streets; but more often than not, we choose to drive out in the country. Before long, we'll get away from the busy streets and find paths, roads, and neighborhoods in the country that we've never driven through before. We're always on an adventure. It's amazing how quickly we can get from our neighborhood to the country. There, we love to look at the beautiful land and the animals, as well as the quaint country houses, and the simple signs that advertise for fresh eggs and horse-back riding lessons.

One cool, crisp, and beautiful morning last week, my little brother Benny woke up early to go driving with my mom and me. He was so excited that he got up when it was still dark and joined me downstairs while I read my Bible. He was ready when my mom came and told me that I  could start the car. Our drive that morning was more casual than usual. We took Ben to our favorite roads, stopping extra long at stop signs to take pictures (until a car would come behind us of course) and occasionally getting out to snap pictures of the wildflowers that grow on the side of the road, or of a long road with beautiful arching trees that we decided to run down a little ways and then back again.

I know that once I get my license, and no longer need to take morning practice drives, I'm going to look back on the drives I took with my mom fondly. This morning being one of them. I'm glad we took pictures, so that I can remember the simple, yet beautiful morning on which I went driving with my mom and little brother Benny out in the country.
