Little Women of Orchard House

I can't tell you how blessed I am to have been a part of the production of "Little Women Of Orchard House" with my local theater group this year. Ever since I watched one of their plays in the beginning of last year, I dreamt of being in one of their future plays, and checked their website often to see what productions were coming up and if there were any auditions that I could be a part of.

Last year, when I found out that the company was holding auditions for their upcoming play, "Little Women of Orchard House", I was simply over-the-top ecstatic . You see, my family and I love the story of Little Women, the book and the movie (the one with Winona Ryder as Jo). We've seen the movie so many times that we've lost track. Oftentimes we like to quote our favorite scenes. :)

The story of Little Women is near and dear to our hearts because it's so real, sweet, and special. I think the fact that it follows the lives of ordinary people, doing ordinary things, is what makes it one of the most beloved stories; because when life, even with it's ups and downs, is treasured; when there is love in the midst of it all, it is beautiful. I think that the story of Little Women was (and still continues to be to this day) such a success because the writer, Louisa May Alcott, wrote from her real and honest experiences making the story relate-able and truly heart-felt.

Being a part of a Little Women play was a dream come true and an answer to prayer. Even though I didn't get to play one of the roles I had at first hoped for, I'm just so incredibly thankful for the opportunity to be a part of a play again. I really enjoyed the roles I did get to play. Truly, everyone couldn't have been cast more perfectly for their roles, and I couldn't have asked for a more supportive, encouraging, and amazing group of people to work have fun with.

Our last performance was last Saturday night. I will miss it all SO much--the rehearsals, the laughter, the moments of excitement backstage as my friends and I wait for our scenes, the trip to Mel's Diner to talk and laugh with friends after one of the performances, the time spent getting ready for the play with my friends (curling hair, getting in costumes, putting on makeup etc.), standing under the lights and acting in front of the audience, the satisfied feeling of finishing a performance surrounded by the people you have worked so hard with to make the play beautiful, dashing around the building after the last scene in order to make it to the back of the building for curtain calls, seeing my new, amazingly wonderful friends every weekend--it has all come to an end now. But I will hold all these memories dear.

Theater is one of my favorite things. Ever. I love it so much and hope to continue acting in plays for as long as the Lord allows. Acting, making new friends, and putting together a brilliant production with those friends is one of the best experiences.

Now that it's over, I am looking forward to the cast party next weekend!

To my acting friends:
Let's not turn into strangers after the party, k? I'll miss you all too much.
Thanks for being such outstanding friends to me
and for making me and my siblings feel welcomed into your group.
Much love to you all!

a late night ramble//theater edition.

all pictures taken last week on the way to our Little Women rehearsal

It's 10:15 p.m. some of my siblings are watching the avengers and others are doing various things. I'm very tired. We had acting rehearsal today. Next week is tech week. The week where we get to act on the stage for the first time, use our props, run through the entire play with costumes and makeup and hair (we haven't done that yet), figure out the lights and add last minute changes. Yes, it's going to be busy, busy. But oh I love theater. There's nothing quite like it. Performing on stage is one of my favorite things. And all the hard work pays off in the end.

Always, as tech week comes nearer, it seems like we still have loose ends to fill (which we do) and that there's still so much to work on and it gets a little crazy, but it comes together. I trust that it will continue to come together beautifully, as I've prayed. God's helping the play to come together so nicely.

I LOVE the cast I get to work with. We've had so much fun over the last few months (wow, it's been a "few" months already?) that we've been working on the play.

Making new friends and meeting new people is another favorite thing I love about theater.

Now I must go get some rest. Tomorrow we get to run through the entire play again. It will be a long day. But I'm ready for it. I think. :)

LITTLE WOMEN tech week and performances, hard work, excitement, laughs, and making more memories...HERE I COME!

Just a little update for you all in a journal form just because I felt like it.
I don't want to feel like I have to stick to a certain "mold" in order to post.
I want to stop worrying about what people think and post more from the heart,
when I feel like it, even if that means rambly posts, and words that aren't fancy.

Much love to you all!

 ::hugs!::
